New Movies Coming to Theatres in July 2024 (2024)

It's summer! With the summer movie season going full-tilt we have some of the biggest movies of the year, from DESPICABLE ME 4 to the only Marvel movie of 2024, . There are smaller movies, too, like the horror/thriller sequel MAXXXINE, the utterly chilling Nicolas Cage movie, LONGLEGS, and the inspirational SOUND OF HOPE: THE STORY OF POSSUM TROT.

Here are the new movies to see in theaters in July 2024.

Despicable Me 4

In the first DESPICABLE ME movie in seven years, Gru, the world’s favorite supervillain- turned-Anti-Villain League-agent, returns for a bold new era of Minions mayhem. Gru and Lucy and their girls — Margo, Edith and Agnes — welcome a new member to the Gru family, Gru Jr., who is intent on tormenting his dad. Gru faces a new nemesis in Maxime Le Mal and his femme fatale girlfriend Valentina, and the family is forced to go on the run.

After surviving the violent events in the movie X, Maxine (Mia Goth) relocates to Los Angeles to follow her dreams of acting fame.

Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot

The fight for kids begins July 4. Inspired by the powerful true story, Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot, follows Donna and Reverend Martin as they ignite a fire in the hearts of their rural church to embrace kids in the foster system that nobody else would take. By doing the impossible–adopting 77 children–this East Texas community proved that, with real, determined love, the battle for America’s most vulnerable can be won.

The Lion King (1994)

Back on the Big Screen to celebrate its 30th Anniversary – The Lion King tells the story of an extraordinary coming-of-age adventure as Simba, a lioncub who cannot wait to be king, searches for his destiny in the great “Circle of Life.” The film features an ensemble voice cast including Matthew Broderick, Moira Kelly, Jeremy Irons, Jonathan Taylor Thomas, Nathan Lane, Ernie Sabella, Whoopi Goldberg, Cheech Marin, Rowan Atkinson, Niketa Calame, Robert Guillaume, and James Earl Jones. Original songs were written by composer Elton John and lyricist Tim Rice, with a score by Hans Zimmer.

She is lured back to the open plains by her friend, Javi (Anthony Ramos) to test a groundbreaking new tracking system. There, she crosses paths with Tyler Owens (Powell), the charming and reckless social-media superstar who thrives on posting his storm-chasing adventures with his raucous crew. The more dangerous the better. As storm season intensifies, terrifying phenomena never seen before are unleashed, and Kate, Tyler and their competing teams find themselves squarely in the paths of multiple storm systems converging over central Oklahoma in the fight of their lives.
